Consultant group releases report on Central State Hospital

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Job creation is the number one goal for the redevelopment authority at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.

The authority released an 84 page report from the Counselors of Real Estate Consulting Corps Wednesday. It takes a constructive look at the hospital as well as the entire Milledgeville and Baldwin County community.

Mike Couch, the executive director of the redevelopment authority, tells 41NBC he took away three key points from the report: the opportunity to work with young professionals, recognizing industry based on education, and revitalizing the hospital based on that education industry.

Couch says they have a lot of work to do. He adds the board will meet next month to break down the report and take a look at what it can do to make a short and long term plan.

Officials say this report will help the redevelopment authority set a strong foundation as it moves forward with redeveloping the hospital and bringing job creation to the campus.
