Congressman Sanford Bishop looking for passion in Democratic presidential candidates

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Congressmen Sanford Bishop and Austin Scott spoke at the Good Morning Macon breakfast event Tuesday morning.

The two answered questions about the Ocmulgee National Monument and Savannah Port expansions. They also talked about what key issues are important to them.

Bishop said he’s concerned about the national deficit. He also explained he’s looking for solid plans from the Democratic presidential candidates in Tuesday’s first debate.

“We can not maintain our strength and our position as the premier super power of the world unless we sure-up our aging infrastructure,” explained Bishop.

Scott said he supports Paul Ryan for House Speaker, but understands if he doesn’t run for the position it’s because he’s a family man.

“That really is the issue for him. The demands on the schedule and the time away from home, the wife and three young kids. He’s going to make the decision that’s best for his wife and kids,” explained Scott.

The Democratic Presidential Debate will start at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on CNN.
