Color Me Pink Provides a Personal and Private Place for Breast Cancer Patients

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — People all across the country are going pink for breast cancer awareness month. One retailer in Houston County is not only raising awareness one month out of the year, but all year long by offering support to those battling the disease.

Color Me Pink is more than a boutique, it’s a place where those fighting breast cancer can connect with others going through the same battle.

“When I was diagnosed I didn’t know anybody, particularly anyone my age,” said 3-year breast cancer survivor Gen Matchette.

She added, “I’m a triathlete, I’m a runner, I’m one of those people that other people were shocked when I was diagnosed.”

With the help of Color Me Pink owner, Judy Mason, Gen and dozens of other breast cancer patients have regained their confidence.

“There’s a class that helps cancer patients learn how to apply make up,” said Matchette.

Victoria Campbell was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2013.

“The first day I walked in, Judy was having a survivor meeting here…it was very comforting at that point to be surrounded by a group of women who are survivors…and be able to ask questions…” said Campbell.

While Mason has no history of breast cancer, she wanted to provide a personal and private place for women and the battle they didn’t choose. Six years ago, Mason started her ‘color me pink’ journey. Now, the store has a donor closet that supplies hats, scarves, and wigs to patients who can’t afford them. It also has a kitchen that cooks up comfort meals for those going through treatment and an entire shop with speciality products.

Color Me Pink is located at 115 Margie Drive in Warner Robins. For more information on the boutique, call (478) 953-1377.
