Coliseum Medical Center wants you to know about Sepsis
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Every 2 minutes, someone in the United States dies from Sepsis. Coliseum Medical Center wants you to know its a life threatening emergency in which the body overreacts to an infection.
Shivering, in pain, having a hard time sleeping or shortness of breath, are all signs of Sepsis.
Coliseum’s Sepsis coordinator, Nancy Huitt says it’s more common than you think.
“It contributes to about one in three hospital deaths and they say that the average hospital, about one in 23 patients has sepsis,” said Huitt.
Huitt says the coliseum medical center has already seen a lot of patients with Sepsis. She recommends to talk to your doctor about it, and ask if you can get tested.
