Cold front to bring storms this weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An incoming cold front will bring scattered storms for the first half of the weekend and cooler conditions to start next week.

A mostly cloudy afternoon will become a mostly cloudy night. A couple of storms will be possible in the northern parts of Middle Georgia but most of the region will stay dry on this First Friday. Tonight will be warm with lows expected in the lower 60s. Wind will be light and variable. Fog will be possible into the start of Saturday as well.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with highs expected in the low to mid 80s. Wind will be a bit more pronounced as well as it flows from the south-southwest at 10-15 mph. Gusts could push over 20 mph.

Showers may begin during the lunchtime hours however more widespread storms will likely begin in the late afternoon. As of now a Level 1 “Marginal” severe threat includes all of Middle Georgia. A Level 2 “Slight” threat cannot be ruled out for parts of the region, however. Primary risks will be small hail and a few wind gusts.

Rain will continue into the night before slowing some rolling into Sunday morning. A couple of showers may still linger into the early parts of Sunday.

A cloudy start is likely to begin the back half of the weekend, however plenty of sun is expected through the afternoon and evening. Highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s with overnight lows dropping back below average into the upper 40s and lower 50s. Sunny skies will begin the new week along with a reduction in humidity. More rain chances may return by midweek.
