Cold First Half of the Week

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) – Below average temperatures move into Middle Georgia following a cold front that will move through our area on Monday morning.

After a morning of dealing with patchy fog and a few isolated showers, we will see a clearing trend behind the cold front that will pass through today. Once the cold front clears our area we will be left with a partly cloudy sky and cool temperatures. Since the cold front is passing through in the morning, temperatures will be on a gradual decline throughout the day. This means that our “high temperature” for the day will be set in the morning hours rather than being set in the afternoon. Tonight, temperatures will be in the upper 20’s and low 30’s across Middle Georgia. Since the wind will continue to gust overnight, temperatures will be feeling like the low and mid 20’s.

More sun returns on your Tuesday as an area of high pressure off to our west slowly makes its way to Middle Georgia. This will keep us dry for the most part of the week. Temperatures tomorrow afternoon will struggle to make it out of the 40’s even though we will stay mostly sunny throughout the day. Overnight temperatures will once again cool below the freezing mark, bottoming out in the mid 20’s.

Week Ahead.

We stay dry and cool through Thursday before rain returns to Middle Georgia on Friday evening. If you have plans for the weekend you plan on taking the rain gear because models are consistent in bringing showers and potentially strong storms to Middle Georgia on Saturday and lingering into Sunday. Chief Meteorologist Cecilia Reeves and myself will continue to monitor the storm system this week as it moves our way.
