Cochran residents under state of emergency, curfew Thursday night

Cochran residents are under a state of emergency in response to severe weather conditions, according to a City of Cochran Facebook post. A mandatory curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 until 8 a.m. on Friday, September 27.

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Cochran residents are under a state of emergency in response to severe weather conditions, according to a City of Cochran Facebook post. A mandatory curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 until 8 a.m. on Friday, September 27.

Residents are required to stay indoors during the curfew unless traveling to or from essential work, seeking emergency medical care or evacuating from dangerous areas. Emergency responders, healthcare workers and utility crews are exempt from the curfew.

Cochran City Hall will be closed on Friday.

“Your safety is our top priority,” Mayor Billy Yeomans said. He urged residents to follow official guidance and stay indoors.

In case of emergency, residents are advised to contact 911. For non-emergency matters, the city has provided a contact number: (478) 934-6282.

Mayor Yeomans also encouraged the community to share the information.

“Stay safe, Cochran,” he wrote. “We’ll weather this storm together.”
