Coach’s Corner: Westfield Hornets will have a new, but familiar face as head coach in 2016

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – There’s a new coach for Westfield, but someone who is well versed in Hornets tradition.

Jamey Watson will be taking over for former coach Ronnie Jones, who guided the Hornets for 23 seasons. Watson was the defensive coordinator under Jones through 2014.

In Jones’ final season, the Hornets finished 11-2 and lost to Valwood in the state semi-finals.

OFFENSE:

The Hornets averaged 40.5 points-per-game last season, but have lost all of their skill players since then.

Large questions marks will be at both the quarterback and running back positions.

Only two starters returning on the offensive line.

DEFENSE:

The Hornets allowed 18.8 points-per-game last season.

Not a single defensive starter will be returning in 2016.

FIRST GAME: August 19th, versus Southland Academy.
