Coach’s Corner: Twiggs County Cobras enter 2016 with fewer question marks

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – There were positives and negatives for the Twiggs County Cobras in 2015. While the positive was they did make the playoffs, they were only able to do it with a 4-7 record.

Once in the postseason, the Cobras almost pulled out a win. However, they lost to Marion County in the first round by a very slim margin, 22-20.

The Cobras got off to a rough start, 0-3, but a big win against Tattnall helped propel them toward a postseason berth.

4-7 marks an improvement on the 1-9 season Twiggs finished with in 2014.

This is Ashley Harden’s second season as head coach.

OFFENSE:

The Cobras will be returning five linemen on the offensive line from last year.

Leading rusher Ja’Mon Height will be returning. He rushed for over 1,200 yards last year.

Senior quarterback Calvin Stephens will also be back for the Cobras.

DEFENSE:

The Cobras will have eight starters returning.

A worry will be Twiggs County’s middle linebacker position.

FIRST GAME: August 26th at Toombs County. The Cobras will end their season with three straight region road games (Tattnall, Mount de Sales, and Wilkinson County).
