Coach’s Corner: Crawford County set to return to region play for 2016

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Crawford County Eagles went from losing 43 straight games to finishing with a 6-4 record in 2014 and then 8-2 last year, all while playing a non-region schedule.

For 2016, they will return to region play, in 4-A division B, which also includes Dooly County, Hawkinsville, Macon County, Taylor County, and Schley County.

This is head coach Greg Street’s fourth season at the helm of the Eagles.

Returning sophomore quarterback Alex Hinton is returning, and is coming off a freshman year in which he gained a lot of experience being the team’s signal caller. Hinton is already listed at 6’4′, 205 lbs.

Crawford County will have a solid group of skilled players returning to the line-up, led by TE Adam Morris.

The Eagles were able to hold five different opponents to less than 10 points last season, but will need to find a completely new defensive line.

Coach Street believes it all starts up front, in the trenches, and knows an inexperienced line could be his team’s Achilles’ heel.

DT Jamorris Pickard, among others, will be tasked with anchoring down the defense.

FIRST GAME: August 26th versus Pacelli.
