MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mostly cloudy skies and a few isolated showers are likely to finish the work week in Middle Georgia.

This Evening

Partly cloudy skies from the afternoon will become mostly cloudy heading into tonight. The humidity has climbed with dew points in the afternoon having climbed into the upper 60s and lower 70s. They’ll likely remain in that ballpark through the overnight hours with lows falling into the upper 60s for most of the region. An isolated shower or two cannot be ruled out, however the odds for fog overnight are rather high. Wind will remain pretty calm out of the east-southeast.

Tomorrow

A cloudy end to the week is expected, resulting in cooler highs (upper 70s/lower 80s). A few isolated showers will be possible over the back half of the day as well. Any rain seen around the region should be light. Wind will blow from the east-northeast at around 5-10 mph.

Overnight will be mostly cloudy, however the mugginess should drop down a bit. Lows will likely return to the mid 60s around the region as the wind feeds from the northeast at around 5 mph. The odds for fog will also be lower as some drier air attempts to move in.

The Tropics

Hurricane Kirk exploded into a Category 3 storm last night, and now it sits as a powerful Category 4 hurricane over the open water. A cold front over the Atlantic (same one that steered Helene unironically) will turn Kirk northeast. Tropical Storm Leslie is to it’s southeast and could end up missing that cold front. It’s current track is to the west-northwest, remaining far south enough that eastern parts of the US should continue to keep an eye on it. The good news is the area in the Gulf of Mexico is down to 30% odds to become a depression in the next 7 days.
