Clouds stick around as rain odds drop Tuesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After a wet and cloudy day Monday the rain odds drop Tuesday while the clouds don’t budge.
This Evening
The clouds moved into Middle Georgia overnight Saturday and the rain arrived overnight Sunday carrying well into Monday morning. While the rain today has largely subsided a few showers will remain possible through the evening and tonight. The wind has been pretty strong and will continue to be so through tomorrow. Gusts will continue to range from 15-20 mph from the northeast. Overnight lows will be a bit above average as Middle Georgia should keep it above the 50 degree mark.
Tomorrow
Tuesday will be overcast and cool with highs likely to reach just below 60 degrees for much of the region. A few stray showers will be possible however rain odds will be down from Monday. Expect wind from the northeast to continue at around 7-12 mph with gusts pushing 20+ through the afternoon and into the evening.
Overnight will again be overcast however rain is not expected. The wind will begin to calm as well however the strongest gusts may still reach to around 15 mph. Lows will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s leading into Wednesday.
Wednesday and Beyond
Another low pressure system arriving from the west will bring another round of rain Wednesday. This is much needed rain for the region however everything received this week likely still won’t do too much for overall drought recovery. Clouds should clear up Thursday with sunny conditions returning in time for Halloween on Friday.
The Tropics
Melissa has become a Category 5 Hurricane with sustained winds of 175 mph and is expected to make landfall in Jamaica early Tuesday morning. This storm will bring historic impacts to the Island as it may take more than 24 hours for the storm just to cross the island. It’s a very depressing situation. After that a second landfall is expected in Cuba in which Melissa is still anticipated to be a Major Hurricane. After impacting Cuba it will move out to sea to the north and should avoid the US.
