Clouds return overnight leading into Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – While the week has seen a sunny start for Middle Georgia clouds and rain will take over the rest of the way.
This Evening
Sunny skies and a shift in the wind allowed conditions to warm up some around Middle Georgia this afternoon. A jump in overnight temperatures is also expected with most if not all of Middle Georgia likely to remain above freezing tonight. Cloud cover arriving from the north will thicken leading into the morning hours Wednesday. Fog will be possible for most if not all of the region as well. The wind will flow from the southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts to around 15 mph. No rain is expected.
Tomorrow
A mostly cloudy day is likely Wednesday with some sun possible in the afternoon hours. Temperatures will jump again in the afternoon with highs expected in the upper 60s and lower 70s. The wind will be rather pronounced but balmy as it flows from the southwest. Expect sustained speeds of 10-20 mph with gusts ranging from 20-25 mph throughout the afternoon.
Overnight is when rain chances will first be introduced and even then it likely will not be until almost sunrise on Thursday. It will be a warm and cloudy night with lows expected in the mid to upper 50s across the region, or around 20 degrees warmer than Tuesday night. The wind will remain strong from the southwest at 7-15 mph with gusts to around 20 mph. This will make the formation of fog a bit more difficult.
Thursday and Beyond
Isolated to scattered showers are likely throughout the afternoon on Thursday as temperatures largely climb into the lower 70s. Those showers may become thunderstorms overnight into Friday with the highest odds for thunderstorms expected throughout the day on Friday. Cloud cover looks to stick around into the first half of Saturday.
