DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A clemency hearing is scheduled for the death row inmate convicted of killing a Laurens County Sheriff’s deputy.
Representatives for Andrew Brannan will appear in front of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles on Monday, January 12th at 9 a.m.
Brannan was convicted of killing Deputy Kyle Dinkheller during a traffic stop in 1998. He is scheduled to die by lethal injection on January 13th at 7 p.m.
Laurens County Sheriff Bill Harrell hopes this will give the community closure.
“We have some officers here that worked here and was working there that particular day that took place,” Harrell said. “It’s been a very horrendous thing for our people and our community and I’ll be glad to see the family and our officers get some closure.”
The sheriff tells 41NBC he plans to attend the execution.
