Child Safety Expo teaches children safety tips for summer fun

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The summer heat means free time for children in school.

The Coliseum Health System wants your child to be safe.

The hospital hosted a child safety expo Saturday.

Kids learned how to help prevent dangerous situations.

They also explored ambulances and fire trucks.

Jennifer Gardner with Coliseum Health System says children need to be reminded to be safe.

“It’s important during the summer months to have fun,” said Gardner. “During the whole year really. But in the summer there’s so much more free time and so many great activities going on but it’s important that when you’re having fun that you know how to keep yourself safe. That you know how to keep yourself safe around the swimming pool–that when you’re riding your bicycle that you always wear your helmet.”

The event also featured in car temperature simulators.

They allowed participants to see just how hot the inside of a car can get in the summer.
