Child killed in single car accident on I-75 in Monroe County
MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A car accident on I-75 left a 7-year-old child dead Sunday.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 5:30 p.m., on I-75 north , just south of the Johnstonville Road exit. A 1999 Mercury Mountaineer was carrying seven people from Macon in the far right lane when a rear tire blew, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Investigators say the vehicle over-turned multiple times after hitting a guardrail.
Six passengers were injured and a 7-year-old child was killed.
The injured were taken to Navicent Health.
