Cherry Blossom Festival Ball Drop is back

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After 5 years of being gone, the Cherry Blossom Ball Drop is back. You can bring in the new year at the pinkest party this Sunday at Cherry Street Plaza.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is hosting the big event with music, food and of course a ball drop. The ball is made from recycled cherry blossoms. A firework show will follow after the clock strikes midnight.

Organizers say you don’t want to miss it.

“This is going to be the year, 2018,” said Cherry Blossom Festival Chair, Marvel Burgess. “It’s really got to go pink. We’re going to turn everybody pink. So get out, wear your sparkles, wear your pink, come see us. It’s going to be a blast.”

It all starts at 9 PM and the event is free and open to everyone. There will be local food and drink vendors. This celebration kicks off the Cherry Blossom Festival in March.

The Cherry Blossom Ball Drop started in 2009 and hasn’t been back since 2012.
