CGTC women beat Albany Tech, move on to GCAA title game

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Central Georgia Technical College women’s basketball team is headed to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association championship game after defeating Albany Technical College 96-70 Thursday night in the conference tournament semifinals.

According to a news release from Central Georgia Technical College, the Titans used strong offensive play and defensive pressure to pull away in the second half of the game played in Americus.

CGTC built momentum early with aggressive defense and balanced scoring that helped the Titans control the pace of the game.

Amira Walters-Smith, a second-team all-conference selection in 2026, led CGTC with 24 points.

Aryana Thomas added 20 points along with seven rebounds, eight assists and six steals.

Lyric Green, a first-team all-conference selection, recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

With the win, the Titans advance to the GCAA Tournament Championship, where they will face South Georgia Technical College.

The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday in Americus.

According to the release, the winner of the conference championship will receive the GCAA’s automatic bid to the NJCAA Women’s National Tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana, scheduled for March 24 through March 31.
