Central Chargers coming off first playoff appearance since 2008

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In 2014, the Central Chargers made the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Now in his fourth season as head coach, Jesse Hicks believes it’s time to start thinking about the possibilities of regional and state championships, and not just being happy to be in the post-season.

There will be eight starters coming back on offense for the Chargers, a squad that averaged over 21 points a game last season. That includes QB Derrick Evans, RB Antonio Sanders, and WR Ivory Childers.

Scoring 21 points a game came at the same time as Central was giving up 21 points a game, a number they know will need to get better as they compete against the region’s best. There will also be eight players returning for the defense, anchored by defensive end Chandler King.

The Central Chargers begin 2015 at home on August 28th, versus Wilkinson County.
