UPDATE (3/11/26): The scheduled move of a C-130 aircraft on Sunday has been canceled, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

An update on Wednesday did not provide further details.

ORIGINAL STORY (3/10/26):

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Drivers in Houston County could see significant traffic delays Sunday morning as a C-130 aircraft is moved across Georgia Highway 247 near Robins Air Force Base, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.

The aircraft move is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to an alert Tuesday from the sheriff’s office.

The alert said the Houston County Sheriff’s Office will assist Robins Air Force Base with transporting a C-130 H aircraft to the south side of the base.

Because of the size of the aircraft, both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 247 will be closed and traffic rerouted between Bargain Road and Booth Road.

Several roads that connect to Highway 247 will also be closed to through traffic during the move, including Ignico Drive, Green Street, Watson Boulevard, Martin Luther King Boulevard and Russell Parkway.

Traffic exiting Robins Air Force Base may also be affected, according to the sheriff’s office. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes if possible.
