Byron man arrested after standoff with sheriff’s deputies
BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Byron man arrested on Thursday after a brief stand off with sheriff’s deputies.
Peach County Sheriff’s Captain John Edwards says 20-year-old Joshua Karvelis is charged with battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of methamphetamine.
Edwards says deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call.
Witnesses say Karvelis and his mother got into an argument at their home on Roger Drive leaving Karvelis’ mother with an injury to her face.
After threatening to shoot himself, Karvelis sneaked out of the house where deputies arrested him accusing him of having meth on him.
He’s currently in the Peach County Jail.
