Bullying on a school bus
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Monroe County Board of Education is investigating a bullying incident that happened on a school bus. It was all caught on camera by another student on the bus.
The video shows a five year old girl screaming after boys, who appear to be much older than her, are physically bullying than the kindergartner.
Suzette Pennamon, the victim’s cousin, is upset after seeing the video.
“The bus driver never pulled over to come to her aid or to see what was going on,” said Pennamon.
Two boys teased the kindergartner and eventually pinned her down. The boys even took the victim’s backpack.
“It really brought tears to my eyes,” said Penammon. “Something like this is unacceptable. We as a family, we just want to seek justice on this because it could’ve been anyone’s child.”
After the video was passed along by a student’s mother, the family took the matter to Samuel E. Hubbard Elementary’s School principal.
“They said they need to further investigate and they’ve been really cooperative thus far,” said Pennamon.
The Board of Education knows about the situation. When asked about it, the board said the incident is still under investigation. They’re working hard because child safety is their priority.
“She’s afraid, she’s terrified. she doesn’t want to get back on the school bus,” said Pennamon.
Fearing the incident might happen again, the victim won’t be getting back on the school bus any time soon.
There is no information on the school bus driver or the students involved. The family says the victim did not want to tell at first, fearing she would continue to be bullied, but they’re hoping to put an end to that.
