Buckarama Opens Doors to Sportsmen in Perry
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 2013 Georgia Wildlife Federation Buckarama is at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry this weekend.
If you’re a hunter like Sam Stowe…you’re walking in the clouds right now.
He’s the marketing director for the Georgia Wildlife Federation Trade Shows, but he’s also an outdoorsman, like a kid in a candy store, checking out all of the new equipment at the 2013 Buckarama.
“This is an event that we as hunters and fisherman look forward to each year, it’s just a time when we all get together and we see old acquaintances and make some new ones when we get together here,” Stowe said.
163 vendors have made their way to Perry, showing off ATV’s, guns, live animals, hunting tools and enough camouflage to hide the thousands packing in the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
The show is sponsored by the Georgia Wildlife Federation. The main point the group is aiming for-is the importance of responsible hunting.
“My favorite thing, it’s not about killing deer, it’s about being in the outdoor…it’s a good quiet time. I’ve got three granddaughters that hunt with me and that’s our quiet time together.”
And hunters like Buster Brown enjoy the quiet time too, except he enjoys the time with a feathery friend. Hawks help him out when he’s hunting.
“For us we’re kind of like glorified dogs, we keep it moving and they do all of the work,” Brown said.
You can also get your hunting license this weekend- for whatever game you’re shooting for.
“A little bit of all of it, I’ve drawn me an alligator permit, so I’ll be an alligator hunter this year,” Stowe said.
