BSO: Several arrests made in ‘Operation Clean House’ targeting top gang members

Multiple agencies work together and take seven into custody.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Seven people, identified by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office as “top gang members in Bibb County,” were taken into custody on Thursday in “Operation Clean House.”

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release says the sheriff’s office Gang Unit, in coordination with the sheriff’s office Special Response Team, Department of Community Supervision, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Gang Task Force and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, worked together.

During the operation, four teams executed several arrest warrants in “targeted locations to apprehend the Department of Community Supervision’s top gang members in Bibb County.”

Deputies say they recovered three firearms, one of which was reported stolen, as well as “several ounces” of marijuana and grams of cocaine.

The following people, who were all wanted in Bibb County for violation of probation, were arrested. Additional charges are listed and pending, according to the sheriff’s office.

  • 26-year-old Jawarren James Balkcom – Probation violation (robbery by force), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • 36-year-old Charles Antonio Balthrop – Probation violation (robbery by intimidation), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, theft by receiving stolen property
  • 24-year-old Tyrik Juwan Carswell – Probation violation (possession of cocaine)
  • 35-year-old George Devin Dawson – Probation violation (cruelty to children)
  • 25-year-old Sylvester Dugger Jr. – Probation violation (burglary)
  • 27-year-old Demartez Lashawn Little – Probation violation (aggravated assault), probation violation (criminal street gang activity)
  • 24-year-old Santez Deshawn Mattox – Probation violation (robbery by force), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
