Brother charged with murder in Macon shooting on High Oak Drive

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A man has been charged with murder after deputies say he shot and killed his brother during a domestic dispute on High Oak Drive.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 46-year-old Roderick Thomas is accused of the death of his brother, 52-year-old Robert Thomas.

Deputies were called to the 4700 block of High Oak Drive just before 9 p.m. Saturday after reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found Robert Thomas inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. Officials said the next of kin has been notified.

Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two men.

Robert Thomas will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.

Roderick Thomas was taken to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning before he went to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he was charged with murder.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, the call came in just before 9 p.m.

When deputies got there, they found 52-year-old Robert Thomas with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told deputies he’d been shot by his brother during a dispute.

46-year-old Roderick Thomas was taken in for questioning.
