MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The world’s largest plastics recycling and renewal facility will soon be located right here in Macon.

Brightmark is investing more than $680 million in a new plant that will be located at 2300 Walden Road in south Macon-Bibb.

The facility is expected to divert 400,000 tons of plastic waste away from landfills each year.

Brightmark’s CEO, Bob Powell, is a Georgia native. He says he’s excited to bring this plant to his home state.

“This solution that we have that we will put in Macon-Bibb County is going to be the largest in the world,” Powell said. “But it really is the only at scale solution to solve one of the biggest issues we have: plastics.”

The facility will create 100 jobs.
