UPDATE: Boil water advisory issued for south Perry after water main issue

The advisory is expected to last 24 hours following the resolution of a water main issue in south Perry.

UPDATE (4/23/25 – 12 p.m.): – A boil water advisory is now in effect for south Perry residents following the resolution of a water main issue that caused outages in the area, according to a city news release.

The advisory was issued Wednesday morning after water service was restored to homes and businesses affected by the disruption. According to the update, the advisory is in place due to a potential health hazard from backflow or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality entering the distribution system during the period of zero pressure.

“To protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to ‘boil’ all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food,” the release said. “The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.”

The advisory is expected to remain in effect for approximately 24 hours while water testing is completed. Residents are asked to continue boiling water until the drinking water utility notifies them that the water system has been fully restored and deemed safe for consumption.
