UPDATE: Boil water advisory in Hawkinsville lifted

HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Hawkinsville has lifted its boil water advisory for Rawls Street Friday afternoon.

Water tests from a third party laboratory came back with negative results, indicating the water is safe to use.

Earlier, the city had advised residents on Rawls Street from McCormick Avenue to Pate Street to boil their water before using. The advisory was also for customers on Turner Street, Pate Street, Fale Street, Hendley Street, and Kibbee Street betweeen Turner and Pate Streets.

Residents were asked to boil all water before drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food until further notice.

A fire hydrant break and water valve break caused by a tractor trailer carrying lumber in a residential area on Wednesday lead to the advisory. It was fixed on Thursday, which led the city to issue a warning to residents.
