Man arrested for shooting in Macon hotel parking lot

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Virginia man is in jail accused of shooting at a truck in the parking lot of the Magnuson Hotel on Riverside Drive in Macon.

According to a news release, 36-year-old Travis Bishop told deputies he was trying to stop a woman who took money from him when he shot at the truck.

The driver of the truck, 72-year-old Thurbert Brantley, was pulled over after the shooting. He says he was scared an drove off when Bishop threatened him. After further investigating, deputies found out Brantley had nothing to do with the money that was taken.

Bishop was charged with discharging a firearm on or near a public highway or street. He was taken to the Bibb County jail.

There’s is no word on the whereabouts of the female in question. No one was injured in the shooting.
