Body found in Jeffersonville, belongs to missing Atlanta man

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twiggs County Sheriff’s investigators found a body in Jeffersonville Friday afternoon. Sheriff Darren Mitchum says the body belongs to a young man who went missing in Atlanta earlier this week.

The sheriff’s office got a call from the Alpharetta Police Department with information that the body could be near Glover Road. Sheriff Mitchum and two investigators spent about an hour looking and found the body around 3:15 PM. It was in the woods about 30 yards off Glover road.

“Foul play is suspected. We are working with Alpharetta P.D.and the Georgia Bureau of investigation,” said Sheriff Mitchum. “It’s an ongoing investigation into what happened to him.”

Sheriff Mitchum says the body seems to have been there since Tuesday or Wednesday. The name of the young man has not been released. The body is being transported to Fulton County for an autopsy.
