Board members ready for Macon Charter Academy lottery

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Parents of students hoping to attend Macon Charter Academy will soon find out if their child into the school. 

The lottery for students in kindergarten through 6th grade starts Saturday at 10 a.m.

School board members also say they’re ready to get the ball rolling on renovating the school. Monya Rutland, one of the academy’s founders, says the school’s goal is to give kids an opportunity to better prepared when they head into the work force.

“It’s no longer enough to just be the best in Bibb County, or in Macon, or in the state of Georgia you have to be the best in the world. We want to prepare our students to compete on a global scale,” Rutland said. 

She adds the renovations should be finished by the end of the summer. She says the schools is still accepting applications for 7th and 8th graders.
