Bleckley County High School on lockdown after reported bomb threat
Deputies said their top priority is ensuring the safety of students, faculty and staff while coordinating a response with school officials and partner agencies.

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Law enforcement and emergency personnel are responding to a reported bomb threat at Bleckley County High School, with all students confirmed safe as authorities secure and search the campus, according to the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said their top priority is ensuring the safety of students, faculty and staff while coordinating a response with school officials and partner agencies.
Authorities said all students have been accounted for, and law enforcement is conducting a thorough search of the campus using explosive detection K-9 teams.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the response, including the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Corrections, Middle Georgia State University and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Preliminary information indicates the threat may be consistent with a “swatting” call, a type of false report that has occurred nationwide. Officials said they are also aware of a similar call reported in Houston County.
Deputies have secured all entrances and exits to the school as a precaution.
Officials said additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
