Black-owned pharmacy encourages people to get vaccinated

Sisters Erica Pounds and Bridget Hogan, owners of Express RX Pharmacy, encourage customers to get vaccinated for extra protection against the COVID-19.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two Macon pharmacy owners encourage people to consider taking the COVID-19 vaccine.

Express RX Pharmacy owners — Erica Pounds and Bridget Hogan — say customers stopped picking up medicine, fearing contraction of COVID.

The sisters say the pharmacy follows CDC guidelines to keep customers safe and protected. Also, they encourage customers to get vaccinated for extra protection against the COVID, especially those living in low-income areas.

“I do understand some of the hesitancy because of some of the things that happened in the past, Pounds said. “So they may not trust the medical field like they should. But I do believe that it’s safe.”

“Don’t be hesitant about it,” adds Hogan. “Because it’s very important to the health of the community and to their health.”

Both women say they received both COVID-19 vaccine shots and have experienced no symptoms besides soreness in the arm.

Express RX Pharmacy has been in business for 11 years.
