Black Friday shoppers save big at Toys “R” Us

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Instead of pressing snooze on their alarm clocks, many people woke up early on Friday to get a good deal.

Erika Velasco is an avid Black Friday shopper. At 5 a.m. on Friday, she was at Toys “R” Us in Warner Robins. She already visited Academy Sports and Target, but she still had 11 other stores on her list.

She searched for a great deal on a tablet for her son.

“He’s been wanting one for about a year now so we wanted to wait until Black Friday when the prices dropped,” explained Velasco.

Velasco estimated she would save more than 150 dollars at Toys “R” Us.

She wasn’t the only one looking for a good deal. People traveled from Tifton and Butler to save money on Christmas gifts. Some stood in line for two hours waiting to get swing sets priced at 500-dollars.

Sales Associated said the biggest rush was during their first big door buster sale at 5 in the afternoon on Thursday, but customers were in the store all night. The store had another door buster sale at 7 a.m.

For shoppers like Velasco, the lack of sleep is no big deal.

“This is the day that I clip coupons for all year long. It’s definitely worth it. One hundred percent,” said Velasco.
