Bibb school leaders dedicate MLK Jr. Elementary
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County School leaders dedicated one of their newest schools this morning.
Board members and students cut the ribbon at the new Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School in east Macon. Jason Daniel, with the school district, says the decision to rebuild the old King-Danforth Elementary was the perfect solution to building a new school.
“It was designed for 750 students. Right now we’re under that mark, but we’ve got room to grow. We’ve got a nice playground, which a lot of facilities here in Bibb County don’t have. It’s a lot of the small things that went into this location that makes it a great school,” Daniel said.
The building has 49 teaching spaces including a gym, media center, and art room. It cost the district more than $13 million to build the school.
