Bibb School District To Purchase Land For New Heard Elementary

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County School District received approval to purchase a portion of property on Houston Road in Macon. Thursday, school board members authorized the contract involving property located at 6585 Houston Road, just south of Heard Elementary School, which is located at 6515 Houston Road.

The contract is with the owners of the 6585 Houston Road property. The school district has agreed to purchase a portion of their property at $13,750 per acre. In the contract, it also agreed to exchange a portion of the land at 6515 Houston Road, where Heard Elementary is located, with the property owners of 6585 Houston Road.

The land purchased, along with the property already owned by Bibb Schools will be the area for the new Heard Elementary School.
