New 2026 graduation rates released for Bibb and Houston schools
Houston County reached a record 94.6% graduation rate in 2026, while Bibb County posted 87.64% as Georgia’s statewide rate rose to 88.5%.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- New 2026 graduation data show Houston County’s rate increased to a record 94.6%, while Bibb County’s rate was 87.64%.
Georgia’s statewide graduation rate was 88.5%.
Houston County’s rate increased 1.3 percentage points from 93.3% in 2025 and finished 6.1 percentage points above the state average.
Bibb County’s rate decreased 1.33 percentage points from 88.97% in 2025 and was 0.86 percentage points below the statewide rate. The district remained above 87% for the fourth consecutive year.
Houston County reaches record high
A total of 2,199 students graduated from Houston County schools in 2026.
Houston County High School and Perry High School each posted graduation rates of 98.2%. Veterans High School had a rate of 96.2%, Warner Robins High School was at 91.3%, and Northside High School was at 89.9%.
“This record-breaking graduation rate is a tremendous accomplishment for our entire community,” Houston County Superintendent Dr. Richard Rogers said.
Rogers credited students, teachers, staff, and families and said the district remains focused on preparing students for life after graduation.
Bibb County remains above 87%
All seven Bibb County high schools posted graduation rates above 80% for the second consecutive year. Central High School had the district’s highest rate at 96.4%, marking its fifth consecutive year above 90%.
Howard High School recorded Bibb County’s largest increase, rising 2.45 percentage points to 90.94%. The district says that is Howard’s first graduation rate above 90% on record.
Southwest High School posted a 90.26% graduation rate, its second consecutive year above 90%. VIP Academy increased to 89.72%.
Bibb Superintendent Dr. Dan Sims said the district is proud of its progress but still sees room for improvement.
“We must continue the work of identifying areas where we can make further gains,” Sims said.
Northeast High School posted an 83.26% graduation rate, Rutland High School was at 80.75%, and Westside High School finished at 84.52%.
Bibb County’s overall graduation rate has increased by more than 35 percentage points since 2012, when the district’s rate was 52.3%.
Georgia calculates the graduation rate using a four-year adjusted cohort, measuring students who graduate within four years.
