Bibb deputies: Man in critical condition after Monday shooting, suspect arrested

A man is in critical condition at the hospital after being shot Monday afternoon, and a suspect is now in custody.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  A man is in critical condition at the hospital after being shot Monday afternoon, and a suspect is now in custody.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, a call for assistance came into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center just after 3 p.m.

Deputies arrived in the 900 block of Hillcrest Boulevard and found a 59-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a medical facility by ambulance.

The investigation revealed 36-year-old Larry Christopher Baker was the suspect. Deputies say they found him in the 3400 block of Shenandoah Drive, but he refused to exit the home.

The sheriff’s office SWAT Team and Gang Unit prepared to execute a search warrant, and at that point, Baker surrendered.

Deputies say a firearm was recovered from the home.

Baker is being held in the Bibb County Jail without bond. He’s charged with aggravated assault.
