Bibb deputies arrest a man suspected of burning three houses

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies have charged 60-year-old Larry Smith Jr. with three counts of first degree arson.

According to fire investigators, this is Smith’s first fire charge.  But, he has been arrested more than 50 times for criminal trespassing, loitering, terroristic threats, and other crimes.

The fires happened Monday night at 10:45.  Firefighters first responded to 4177 Marion Avenue.  When they arrived on the scene, they saw the two other houses burning at 4134 and 4140 Worsham Avenue.  All three homes were vacant and no one was hurt.

Smith is booked in the Bibb County LEC.
