Texaco employee shot during armed robbery in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect after an armed robbery at a Macon gas station left an employee with a gunshot wound Sunday morning.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect after an armed robbery at a Macon gas station left an employee with a gunshot wound Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the Texaco at 1212 Eisenhower Parkway around 7:20 a.m.

Investigators say a masked man entered the store and asked to use the restroom. The suspect then claimed the restroom was flooding, luring an employee from behind the counter before pulling out a firearm and demanding money from the cash register.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies say a brief struggle broke out between the suspect and the employee. During the confrontation, the employee was shot.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities say the suspect fled on foot toward Laveta Drive.

The suspect is described as a  male wearing all black, a face mask and an orange safety vest.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
