MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two commercial burglaries at the Macon Coliseum, reported to have happened on March 16 and March 20.
According to the sheriff’s office incident report, unidentified suspects broke into the Macon Mayhem offices, stealing cash and valuable equipment.
The first burglary happened in the early hours of March 16. Surveillance footage captured a person inside the building. The person, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was about 5’8″ and weighed between 140 and 150 pounds. He was seen wearing a black and gray jacket, khaki pants and white shoes when he entered the Macon Mayhem offices through a garage-style door and stole $300 from a cash register.
“There was no video of the suspect entering the building and there were no identifying marks of the entry into the building because the building is an ‘older structure and not in the best condition,'” the responding deputy wrote in his report.
Two employees of Oak View Group, which manages the Macon Coliseum, told the deputy the back-office door of the Macon Mayhem organization was found ajar when they opened the following morning, according to the report. “Staff believes that the suspects exited through this back-office door,” the deputy wrote.
A second burglary involving two suspects—one of whom was believed to also be involved in the first—happened on March 20. The suspects entered through administration offices just before midnight and stole a Motorola walkie-talkie radio valued at $900. The first suspect in the second burglary was about 5’10 and also believed to be in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing gray sweatpants, a creme-colored jacket with a possible Atlanta Falcons logo, a black knit hat and black Nike sneakers with white soles. The second suspect was wearing a black jacket with white writing, black pants and black shoes.
The responding deputy reported the suspects tried to break into the box office with a tool, damaging the lock in the process.
The investigation is ongoing. Call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME if you have information.
