Bibb County Sheriff Deputies investigating soda bottle prank

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Bibb County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious item in a mailbox on General Lee Road this Sunday morning, just after 9:00 a.m.

Deputies say a resident of one of the houses found a 1.5 liter soda pop bottle in his mailbox containing a liquid and some other object which looked suspicious.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal Unit discovered a combination of Drano and aluminum foil.

The two items put together cause a chemical reaction, building pressure and causing the bottle to explode.

None of the bottles found had exploded.

Some other General Lee residents had found similar looking bottles in their front yards.

Deputies report a resident seeing a young, white male standing near a mailbox with an object that looked like a shovel in his hands.

He appeared to be 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, with brown hair.

The subject saw him and left in a vehicle.

A little while later the resident said he heard a banging noise outside.

He went out and saw the same male striking a neighbors mailbox with a shovel.

He said the male got into what looked like a small, silver sports utility vehicle and drove away.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident.

Anyone with information in reference to this incident or the suspect and vehicle is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-
