MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Board of Education announced Dr. Curtis L. Jones Jr. as the finalist in its superintendent search.

Dr. Jones is currently the superintendent of Griffin-Spaulding County School System.

Dr. Jones graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Business Administration from Albany State College, and an Education Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

In a joint statement Co-Chair of the Superintendent Search Committee, Lester Miller and Dr. Thelma Dillard, Board of Education President said, “The consensus of the Board is that they are bringing in one of the best, someone who has demonstrated success and who will bring the district team and community together to improve the schools, the district, and the community by putting the needs of the students first.”

The Board says it will release more information on the next steps of the process later this week.
