Bibb County School Board receives feedback from public hearings

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County School Board is getting feedback from the community about a big decision it has to make.

The board is halfway through the six public forums it is hosting to inform everyone about the three school system options.

District officials say people have asked questions they didn’t consider before these hearings, like how will each system affect athletics or teacher retirement.

“We started this in an effort to inform everyone and in each one of these sessions, we’ve been able to gather more information based on the feedback that our stakeholders have shared with us,” explained Bibb School Board Interim Superintendent Dr. Kelley Castlin-Gacutan.

Officials will present the feedback to the entire school board after the hearings finish.

There’s still a chance for you to learn about the three school system options and voice your opinion. The last two public forums will be next week. Both begin at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, February 3rd: Southwest High School Auditorium, 1775 Williamson Road
Wednesday, February 4th: Rutland High School Cafeteria, 6250 Skipper Road
