Bibb County School Board Continues Search For New Superintendent

MACON, Georgia (41MNC/WMGT) — The search for a superintentent in the Bibb County School system continues as the school board met tonight for their monthly meeting.

At Thursday night’s meeting, the company who’s helping with the hiring process, Georgia School Boards Association, presented a proposed timeline for the board.

It recommended applications be due on February 16th, and after GSBA looks over the applicant pool,
representatives from the company would present the candidates to the board on March 3rd.

Then, the board would interview candidates in March and April, and choose a superintendent by early summer.

“We just brought a proposed timeline, which the board can adjust or tweak as they see fit,” asid Bill Sampson, a consultant at GSBA. “Last spring we also asked the board members to do a survey–a qualification survey to give us some idea as to the qualifications that they thought were needed or required or preferred for the next superintendent.”

The board did not vote on the timeline at Thursday night’s meeting, but will continue to discuss until its next meeting in December.
