Bibb County Residents Weigh In: Do Debates Really Matter?

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Elizabeth Robinson says she didn’t need to watch the third presidential debate to make up her mind. She voted early on Monday afternoon at the Bibb County Board of Elections.

“I was very influenced by the first two debates,” says Robinson.

Jason Lee says the debates actually changed his mind. He says it was round two that was the deciding factor for him.

“The second debate was more driven on facts…I think when the facts come out the undecided voters will know who’s going to be able to take America forward,” says Lee.

Voters like Alice Bailey and Jane Fordham say they already had their minds made up before the debates even began.

“Mainly because I’ve read about each, and because we’ve witnessed the president’s work already. Nothing has changed as a result of the debates for me,” says Bailey.

“I had already studied the candidates and made up my mind in advance. There will probably be a few people that will be swayed by the debate but I think for the most part people already knew what they were going to do,” says Fordham.

Bessie Conty hasn’t voted yet. She says she already has her mind made up, but she still watched the clashing of the candidates.

“I watched them just to see what was going on… my mind is already made up,” says Conty.

Undecided voter, Evan Summerville, says he was disappointed in the performance of the candidates, and the debates didn’t make his choice any clearer.

“I think a lot of people maybe share the same opinion, they didn’t answer a lot of the questions as adequately as I would’ve liked,” says Summerville.
