Three female inmates hospitalized after suspected overdose at Bibb County Jail

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says all three inmates are now stable after being found unresponsive during a Thursday night block check.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three female inmates at the Bibb County Jail were hospitalized Thursday night after deputies found them unresponsive during a routine block check, according to a statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

During a check just after 11 p.m., deputies say they observed the inmates and suspected a possible overdose. Medical staff at the jail administered Narcan before all three women were taken by ambulance to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said the inmates were later released from the hospital and taken back to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. They are now in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

This marks the latest in a series of incidents reported at the Bibb County Jail. 41NBC has previously reported on concerns about inmate safety, staffing levels and facility conditions at the jail.
