UPDATE: Bibb deputies say 21-year-old wanted in deadly August hit-and-run is now in custody
Deputies say the suspect is wanted on vehicular homicide and hit-and-run charges.

UPDATE (2/3/26): Bibb County deputies say they’ve made an arrest in connection with the death of Ronni Nykole Abbott in August 2025.
According to a news release, just after 12 p.m. Tuesday, U.S. Marshals and Bibb County deputies took 21-year-old Carmelo Aamir Johnson of Macon into custody.
Deputies say he’s charged with hit and run resulting in death, first degree felony homicide by vehicle and felony probation violation.
He’s being held without bond at the Bibb County Jail.
UPDATE (12/11/25): The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a Macon man now wanted in connection with a hit-and-run death investigation from August.
According to a Thursday news release, investigators are searching for 21-year-old Carmelo Aamir Johnson, who is wanted on charges of hit-and-run causing serious injury or death and vehicular homicide.
Deputies say Johnson is a person of interest in the death investigation involving 23-year-old Ronni Nykole Abbott, whose body was found along Rocky Creek Road on August 28. Investigators previously said Abbott appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Johnson is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says a 23-year-old woman is dead after what appears to be a hit-and-run on Rocky Creek Road.
According to a sheriff’s office news release, deputies responded to the 2200 block of Rocky Creek Road “in reference to a follow up missing persons case” just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday and found the woman, who has not been identified. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Luann Stone.
Deputies have not released additional details. The case remains under investigation.
