Bibb County deputy involved in fatal shooting at Macon Circle K
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that happened just after midnight Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded to the Circle K located at 4775 Chambers Road after reports that a man was forcing his way inside and attacking the store clerk and customers.
When the deputy arrived, the man charged at the deputy with a weapon. The deputy fired their weapon, striking the man. Deputies and paramedics attempted to provide medical aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Zachary Aaron Ware. According to the Coroner’s Office the next of kin has been notified.
No other injuries were reported.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Office will also conduct an internal review. Further updates will be released as information becomes available.
