Bibb County Deputy Forced To Shoot Aggressive Dog

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County deputy was forced to shoot an aggressive dog twice, killing it, Saturday afternoon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department, deputies found a man trapped inside his car by a dog at the corner of Lynmore Avenue and Tela Place in south Macon.

Residents had previously made multiple calls about the dog chasing people and acting aggressively, and deputies had been unable to locate the dog, which had been in the neighborhood for several days.

Witnesses described the dog as a Red Nose Bulldog.

When deputies arrived on scene, the dog was sitting at the driver’s door of the complainant’s vehicle and would not let him get out to go into his house.

They pulled up to the residence and called animal control.

A deputy then got out of his patrol car to distract the dog in order to protect pedestrians in the area–that’s when the dog charged at him.

The deputy fired his gun at the dog, striking it in the leg.

The dog continued, and the deputy fired a second time, fatally wounding the dog.

Animal Control did arrive on seen, but not before the shooting occurred.

Deputies were notified after the incident that the dog had also bitten a neighborhood child on the leg, leaving minor scratch marks.
